We
are regularly asked what are the differences between the various models in the
Holiday range, We often see brokers advertising a Mk1 as a Mk2 and vice versa,
so I have attempted to list below all the differences that I am aware of., if
there are ones I have missed please let me know!
Mk
1 models;
Have
the steering (helm) on the port side, a one piece stern rail, a bow rail with a
horizontal support rail, no anti slip on the cockpit floor, a fixed windshield,
side screens that slope to a point where they meet the superstructure, a rather
nice wood effect in the forward berth area at each side, a lift up access hatch
to the galley, 4 steps down to the galley, two separate windows in the front
cabin, non tinted glass (or sometimes Perspex) in all windows, a solid moulding
(instead of a Perspex window) below the windshield and magnetic catches on the
doors to heads and galley. (These were changed to the spring catch type found
on all later MK 1,s.Mk 2,s and Mk 3,s.)
Mk
2 models;
Here
the differences are subtle, a two piece stern rail, the bow rail does not have
the support bar, there are two fewer fender cleats, the hatch to the galley is
far heavier having a piece of 5 ply glassed to the underside, folding and
higher windshield and side screens, the side screen angle where it meets the
superstructure is less severe, it also has 2 separate sections of glass in the
side screens, anti-slip on the cockpit floor, inspection panels at the stern
under the rear seat above the engine bay cover and plain white mouldings in the
forward berth area.
MK
3 models;
Here
the differences are more obvious;
The
Mk 3 is 6 inches longer and 3 inches wider than both the MK1 and MK 2’s. the Mk
3 has the steering (helm) position on the starboard side, the Mk 3 has the same
bow rail as a MK2 but with the addition of a fender basket, The upper (even
higher) windshields and side screens use tinted glass, the front lower (galley)
window is one piece Perspex, there is a large additional window
(Perspex/tinted) above this, the fuel tank cover is self draining instead of
being screwed down, the access hatch to the cabin slides forward instead of
being hinged, instead of a 4 step ladder to the galley the MK 3’s used a 2 step/storage
arrangement, the hull shape at the stern is different….instead of having a
rounded hull at the base of the transom the MK 3 has definite angled chine’s
and a glass forward escape hatch instead of the fibreglass type used on the MK1
and 2.
The
above differences are derived purely from my own observations, as with most
things in life they are not quite as clear cut as I may have suggested between
the MK1 and 2 models. For example there are several boats on our site that are
certainly MK 2’s that share one or two features found on the MK 1. The most
common one being the earlier bow rail from the MK 1 found on early MK 2 models.
