Chris Wilkinsons Story

I have owned Julie Ann, serial no:- 2784, for a relatively short period of time, purchasing her in November 1999, previously I had a teal 670, which gave the wife and me many happy trips. I was out for a drive one Sunday and saw Julie Ann in a driveway 100 yards from home and fell in love with her the moment i saw her, I duly parted with £9000 quid and towed her into my driveway. The previous owner was getting on a bit and wanted something more sedate, He now has a Fairline Mirage.

The original engine was a VP AQ200D with 280SP leg, it needed a bit of work ie the transom shield had a lot of play in steering fork/helmet, the trim motor was knacked and a few other bits and pieces which was going to cost about £2000 to sort out so I went round the local agents and got a deal on the new engine (VP 5.7DPS 260HP) for £6000 fitted which I thought was a bargain so I went ahead. The performance compared to the old engine is quite staggering, she planes instantly with a full load of family and friends on board, cruises at 30KT on 3/4 throttle and I’ve had her up to 36KT before I chickened out and throttled back, with the old engine I got 28 - 30KTS flat out and was difficult to get planing with a load up and a choppy sea. Fuel economy is a lot better as I can run at 26KTS on a little over 1/2 throttle.

We havn't ventured too far as yet we use her for fising, trips to Herm & Sark, and weekends in Jersey. Im hoping to start exploring France and possibly South coast of England next summer if I get the time.

Anyway thats about it for now, please let me know when you get the Burgee, I would be interested in having one.
I will send some pics i dug out in a separate email, she's on my mooring just to the North of St Peter Port Harbour in Belle Greve Bay, bit of a shame it was a cloudy day I’ll have to take some more next season.
